Solid Waste Transfer Station

Canterbury's Solid Waste Transfer facility is located in front of the Public Works Garage/School Bus Depot at 111 Kinne Road.  Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Effective December 30, 2024, the Canterbury Transfer Station will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. THE TRANSFER STATION WILL NO LONGER BE OPEN ON TUESDAYS. OPERATING HOURS AS OF 12/30/2024 are Thursday & Friday 8:00 am – 1:45 pm and Saturday 8:00 am – 2:45 pm.

Stickers are required for use of the center.  Stickers are provided at the Town Hall Information Office and in the Town Clerk's Office.  Please bring your vehicle registration with you when requesting a sticker.  

New transfer station stickers will be available for purchase April 1, 2026.  A valid Canterbury vehicle registration and  $80.00 (per sticker / cash or check) are required to purchase a one-year sticker. Stickers will be valid through April 30, 2027. Vehicle registration must be shown at the time of purchase. A fillable Transfer Station Permit Application is available for your convenience on this page (see below). Blank applications will also be available at the time of purchase. 

A textile recycling program is in effect at the transfer station.  Please refer to the documents shown below for additional information and listing of acceptable textile items for recycling.
