    The Selectmen's office administrates the day-day-day operation of the Town, including management of the General Government budget, and issues permits for the use of the Municipal Community Room and Temporary Pistol permits.

    NOTICE: Land Records are now available online. See link...... or go to "" TRANSFER STATION STICKERS - are now issued by the Town Hall Admin. in the FRONT OFFICE. The cost for a sticker for the remaining period to 4/31/20, is now $5.00 per sticker. You MUST show a valid CANTERBURY registration. DOG OWNERS: June is Licensing Month! Any dog six (6) months and older must be licensed. You must bring proof from your veterinarian that your dog has been spayed/neutered, as well as a valid rabies vaccination certificate. Fees: spayed or neutered $8.00. Not spayed/neutered $19.00. A $1.00 late fee, per month, will be assessed after July 1. The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining land records, vital records (birth, death, and marriage certificates, issuing sportsmen licenses, and numerous other statute-required duties. If you wish to license a dog, you will need to provide a valid rabies certificate and proof of neuter or spay, if applicable.

    TAX REPORTS: If you need tax information for IRS purposes you may view the information on-line. (See button on home page "Pay or View Your Taxes") Statements are available in the office for a fee. NOTE: Canterbury does not have sewer use, city water, or fire district taxes. TAXES ARE NOW OVERDUE. For questions or discrepancies on your bill, please contact the ASSESSOR at 860-546-6035. ON-LINE TAX INFORMATION - - Interest accrues at 1.5% per month dating back to the due date on overdue bills. This office accepts CASH, CHECKS, and MONEY ORDERS ONLY. We are not able to accept debit or credit in the office. Please make checks payable to "Town of Canterbury."

    Canterbury's Solid Waste Transfer facility is located in front of the Public Works Garage/School Bus Depot at 111 Kinne Road. Hours of operation are Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
