    The Selectmen's office administrates the day-day-day operation of the Town, including management of the General Government budget, and issues permits for the use of the Municipal Community Room and Temporary Pistol permits.

    TRANSFER STATION STICKERS - You MUST show a current CANTERBURY registration. Current stickers expire 4/30/2018. ANGLERS GUIDE - will be arriving the end of March or start of April. The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining land records, vital records (birth, death, and marriage certificates, issuing sportsmen licenses, and numerous other statute-required duties. If you wish to license a dog, you will need to provide a valid rabies certificate and proof of neuter or spay, if applicable.

    NOTE: Canterbury does not have sewer use, city water, or fire district taxes. ON-LINE TAX INFORMATION - - TAX BILLS - Second half of real estate and personal property bills are due January 1, 2017. Last day to pay without interest is February 1, 2017. Motor vehicle supplemental bills are also due January 1st. Interest accrues at 1.5% per month as of the due date. This office accepts cash, checks and money orders ONLY. We are not able to accept debit or credit. Please make checks payable to "Town of Canterbury."

    The Main Duty of the Land Use Office is to inform the public of all necessary zoning, wetland and building codes and regulations for the Town of Canterbury and to distribute the proper land use permits.

    2016 Personal Property Declarations will be mailed on September 30, 2016 to all existing accounts. Blank forms are also available under documents on the Assessor Page. Declarations are due by Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Extensions may be granted for good cause, if requested in writing by Nov 1.

    The Town of Canterbury Municipal Agent to the Elderly is available to assist seniors in information and referral services.

  • Public Works Department

    Public Works Department

    The Public Works Department performs road maintenance, mows grass, prunes/removes brush/trees, picks up litter, plows snow, and paints stop bars. The crew also maintains trucks at the Town Garage.

    The Registrars of Voters are responsible for the administration of all local, state and national elections; the registration of all eligible voters; and the conduct of primaries and referendums.

    Solid Waste Transfer Center

    Canterbury's Solid Waste Transfer facility is located in front of the Public Works Garage/Bus Depot at 111 Kinne Road. Hours of operation are Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
